A New Year's Eve song

Auld Lang Syne Mairi Campbell & Dave Francis

There are many things I'm thankful for in 2008 including friendships that will last a lifetime..

I'm anxious to see what 2009 holds for me..I do hope a full time job is in the cards.
I wish you all a very happy new year and may none of you be ringing in the new year alone. I'll be spending the day drinking and turkey making with Andree and spending the evening with friends. The best to you all.

People generally suck and disappoint.

One year ago today..and a song.

Samaa, Nihal, and me in Soho. I should add the 3 of us hookin up in the new year to my list of resolutions!

Here is a special musical tribute to them. It is shot in my favorite club ON THE PLANET M2 in Hongdae!! As soon as they were over their jet lag it was the first club I brought them too! I remember many a dance nights pushing people out of the way and dancing on stage with RL until we got motion sickness! If you love house music like I do this is THE PLACE to be...if you're in Seoul.

Pics from when I took the girls there a year ago today...

Resolutions

I don't try to set the bar too high for myself when it comes to resolutions because I tend to be someone with zero follow through at times. I was looking back at past resolutions and I think I'm ready to make some new ones.

December 31st 2005..

1. Tell everyone in my family how important and meaningful they are to my life. Done I think

2. Go to Egypt DONE!

3. Close all doors I've left half opened and move forward. FINALLY DONE!

4. Make a stronger effort to keep in touch with everyone. Well sort of still in progress

5. Learn enough Korean to have a conversation. Done but could always be better

6. Get in rockin shape from dance class. Not done but I've lost 16 pounds of rum since moving home and it's continuing to drop

7. Meet a man who is: intellectual, self-sufficient, not too damaged, over the age of 35, professional, and everything I'm looking for. (haha I'm always looking for this man I've been doing so since I've started dating....hmmm where is he already!?) Hasn't happened and I've stopped thinking about it actually. I'm okay with single-hood.

8. Turn 30 gracefully. Can't say that happened. I still have the burn scars from sparklers..

9. Go to Egypt (did I already mention that? it's cause I really have to get there). DONE

10. Apply for University in October. DONE! Only it took me 3 Octobers after this to get there.

Here are my Resolutions for this year 2009

1. Get a full time teaching job for the fall (in any location world wide).

2. Pay off the last of my debt.

3. Graduate with straight A's for the entire program.

4. Get into those special jeans by the 24th of April.

5. The usual get in shape or find the time to actually try to.

6. Get to Seoul for a vacation.

7. Share cocktails with Raymond.

I think those are pretty realistic and I should be able to achieve the majority of them (I hope).

It's raining....it's pouring....

Over the last week I have watched some very interesting weather transpire. It gets cold enough to burn your skin, then it gets warm and snows and snows and snows, then it rains, then freezing rain, then COLD, then warmer, then snow, then rain, and now it's 10c outside and raining like crazy. Imagine a downpour on top of thick sheets of ice. Oh it's gorgeous outside.

Saturday Song...

Nice Weather for Ducks Lemon Jelly

Friday, December 26, 2008

Well the big day is over and I really had a wonderful time. I'm not really into all the gifts and stuff but I love being with my family. I hope next year my place will be big enough for them all to come and visit me. I have a ridiculous amount of homework to do in the next week and half but I'm just not feeling insipired to do it AT ALL today. Instead, I'm going to go to Andree's and play Wii. An afternoon of bowling is far more fun than homework anyway.

Baby bro is getting married!

I'm still in shock after the phone call I just got from my bro (happy shock). He and Cheryl are getting married!! Mark I'm beyond happy for you two BIG BIG LOVE!

My top choices..in no particular order

Lots of posts today cause I'm sick and bored...anywho here are my top choices for schools I'd like to work at next year (that will be at the job fair)..

The International School of Brussels

I could see myself in Belgium. I've been there before and liked it.

The American International School Cyprus

This school looks like a great place to teach. Cyprus looks amazing!

Bavarian International School in Munich

I think Germany would be a nice place to settle down for several years.

International School of Kenya

Africa intrigues me and I think it would be a life changing experience to live there.

International School of Luxembourg

I have been to Luxembourg, had family that lived there for years, and I know it would be a great place to live and work.

Casablanca American School

Morocco would be AMAZING! Not to mention two of my best pals are close by in Egypt and Libya!

Caribbean International School St.Maarten

I don't think the appeal of this school needs any further explanation after looking at the picture!

American International School of Muscat (Oman)

I love this part of the world, the people, the culture, the food, everything. I'd love to live in Oman.

Wroclaw International School (Poland)

After looking at the package available and the facilities this looks like a good school that has a lot to offer.

International School of Bangkok

WOW! Great salary, benefits, awesome weather, and it's Thailand!

Yes yes I am still considering Dubai or somewhere in the UAE. Just don't have tons of info yet.

A Tuesday song

So I think I have the croup or something like that. I have never had a cough or shortness of breath like I have right now. The doc gave me a very concerned look yesterday when he was checking my breathing but I just thought that I must be really freakin sick. He didn't discuss a diagnosis with me he just gave me loads of free meds. He said what I'm taking is much stronger than the usual Zipthromax I usually take for bronchitis. Anywho..I sound like a barking seal when I cough it's pretty disturbing. Merry freakin Christmas woohoo! I've decided that I am going to stay in my pjs all day, drink my weight in mint tea, watch movies, and eat soup. Tomorrow it's the big Christmas Eve shindig at my aunt's place and I want to enjoy it. I sound like an old sick lady whining about her hip or something haha.

Here is my favorite Christmas song of all time and it isn't Christmas for me without this tune. It has to be the original though or I don't want to hear it.

Feliz Navidad Jose Feliciano
I left my cell in my car and it is so freakin cold I don't want to venture out and get it :(

Actually scratch that..I went outside only to find I had left my phone at my brother's last night grrrrrrr.

Sending love..

On a lighter note..

One of my favorite students for my practicum class this term is going to be in my life for a little while longer. Her mom had asked during parent-teacher interviews if I would tutor her..but I hadn't heard anything else about it until this morning. So once next term starts I'll be tutoring her twice a week. I'm pretty stoked because she is a rad little girl.

No cocktails this Christmas boooooooo! A song too

So I have pretty bad asthma. It is usually under control and doesn't bother me but since last Wednesday I have been pretty sick. Bad asthma and bronchitis = zero fun. I finally got to see my doctor this morning (whom I love because he gives me piles and piles of free meds because he knows I'm an unemployed student with no health care). So I have all the meds I need but can't mix them with cocktails...so that means my first Canadian Christmas in 4 years will be booze free. I can't say I love that idea considering I come from a family who loves cocktails over the holidays. I guess I'll just have to drink extra champagne on New Year's to make up for it!

Here is a song I find totally fitting..

No Loot, No Booze, No Fun The Tossers

I didn't sign up for this

The local papers are calling it Snow-Mageddon. I think they're right. Have you ever seen that stupid movie where the world goes nuts with storms and New York is a frozen snow-covered ice land? Oh geeez what's it called?! Anyone who lived in Seoul has seen it because it was repeated over and over again on Super Action and OCN...The Day After Tomorrow that's it! It's lame but it looks like a frozen snowy ice land outside my window. It is useless to try driving in this stuff so all plans I had for today are out the window. I guess it will be school work for me today. I don't really remember weather like this 3 years ago when I lived here..what's happened?? I did NOT move back here for the snow that's for sure. The weather is inspiring me to look for schools all day in warm places where winter is only something you see on tv. After that I think I'm going to curl up with hot chocolate and watch Love Actually.

I love my friends

After work yesterday I headed out to the train station to pick up Scott. I was excited all day with the thought of my great friends from Seoul arriving in Ottawa! We headed to the hotel to check in while we were waiting for Justin and Karen to arrive from the airport.Justin and Karen arrived from Qikiqtarjuaq a little after 7 and Scott and I already had the fridge stocked with brews. J and K hadn't had beer in months so they were stoked. We drank, laughed, talked about Seoul (which was rad cause I can't really talk to anyone here about the times I had..and I worked with Scott and Justin the entire 3 years I was in Seoul and we've become great friends). We got shushed (no big suprise) and in turn were up graded to a suite away from all the other guests haha. We spent the day together today and I was so sad to leave them. I am looking forward to seeing them in July again for K and J's big wedding!

Justin, Karen, and Scott arrive today wohoo! The weather is crap right now so I hope there are no delays or anything. Tonight will be fun :)
